Barney's Farm

Barney’s Farm began in the 1980s when founder Derry Brett traveled across Asia and the Middle East, visiting countries like Afghanistan, Tibet, Pakistan, India, and Thailand. During his journey, he collected landrace cannabis strains—original, pure cannabis varieties that have naturally developed in these regions over centuries. These strains are highly valued for their unique traits and are often used as the base for creating new cannabis types.

To learn how to grow the best cannabis, Derry spent three years in the Himalayas, where he focused on cultivating and crossbreeding these landrace strains. His goal was to identify and select the best plants based on their THC levels, aroma, and taste.

In 1992, Derry returned to Amsterdam and took over Barney’s Coffee Shop. He transformed it into a hub for cannabis breeding, using the seeds he had developed in the Himalayas. Barney’s Farm quickly gained a reputation for producing top-quality cannabis strains. Today, the farm is known worldwide for its innovative strains, winning multiple Cannabis Cups, and attracting visitors to its Amsterdam location.
